In light of the fact that my parents are leaving on their cruise tomorrow, I have been getting rather nostalgic. I thought what better way to cruise down memory lane than to blog about Jamaica, so here I go.
Because we had heard some rather scary stories about Jamaica, we decided to just go to a resort for the day that we were there. We went to Sunset Beach a beautiful, beautiful place!
I was so excited to see an open air reception area. I had only seen places like these on tv and in the moves. It was SO COOL!!
We almost had the beach to ourselves, it was SO nice. Donia and I decided to ride the paddle boat early-on in case they were hard to come by later in the day.

We weren't very good at steering, so my dad helped us out some:
Most of the day we spent just lounging in the water near the bar. We were actually really close to one, and since we were the only ones down at that end of the beach, it was like having our own personal bar. :-)
Since the resort was all-inclusive, all our alcohol was included in the price. We ALL pretty much had two drinks in our hand all day. They were so yummy. Most of the pictures we took for the day showed us holding up our drinks, we just had to show that we were getting our money's worth, lol.
We saw a starfish while we were out walking around in the water:
After just a few drinks (snort) Donia thought she would snorkel with one of her straws:

Here she is, Miss America:
After spending the morning on the beach, we went over to the water park portion of the resort. They have several slides, a couple of pools and a lazy river.
Donia being silly. This picture and several of the others was taken with my awesome camera gadget called an aquapac. It allows you to put your digital camera underwater to take picture and video. It is so spiffy!
Donia taking a picture of herself going down the slide:
Next we headed up to the swim-up bar. Again, I have never seen anything like this except in the movies. It was FLIPPING FANTASTIC! We could just swim up and get any drink we could ever want!!!!
We were all pretty silly by this time:
Donia and Christie decided to end the afternoon with some synchronized swimming. Dad gave them both two points:
As we got back to the ship, there was a band playing. It was a group of kids, probably ranging in age from 10-14. It was actually kind of sad. They played songs as we all got back onboard, and they were actually pretty good. They were asking for donations, and were so excited when they got any. Then we headed back up to our balcony and watched them from above. People actually continued to throw money down to them, and they ran around catching and scooping it up:Jamaica was such a beautiful place! We had THE MOST fun of the entire cruise in Jamaica. We were glad we were able to go there and feel so safe in the resort that we chose.
Next time will be my absolute favorite thing of the entire cruise, Grand Cayman Island and the Stingrays!!!!
